Stencil Technique

Hello, crafty friends!  Today I'm sharing a card for Newton's Nook Design. Last weeks release included fun slimline stencils; one of them is the "Slimline Masking Hearts Stencil Set". These stencils are perfect for creating heart shaped ink blends on your projects. Let me show you two fun techniques with those stencils.                      * Hallo,  creatieve vrienden! Vandaag deel ik een kaart voor Newton's Nook Design. De release van vorige week bevatte enkele leuke slimline stencils; één daarvan is de "Slimline Masking Hearts Stencil Set". Deze sjablonen zijn perfect voor het maken van hartvormige inktblends op al je projecten. Ik zal je twee leuke technieken laten zien met die stencils.

The first card I made was overlapping hearts. Let me explain how I made these.                      * De eerste kaart die ik maakte, zijn de overlappende harten. Laat me uitleggen hoe ik deze heb gemaakt.

1. You can match the slimline masking hearts stencil perfectly on top of a normal 4x6 card front. You will see two hearts fit on the rectangle.                      * 1. Je kan de slimline masking hearts stencil perfect matchen op een normaal 4x6 kaartfront. Je ziet dat er twee hearts op de rechthoek passen.
2. After you ink blended the first two hearts, you can place a third heart in the middle. Again will the guiding lines help you finding the middle.                      * 2. Nadat je de eerste twee harten met inkt hebt gemengd, kun je een derde hart in het midden plaatsen. Opnieuw zullen de hulplijnen je helpen het midden te vinden.
3. At the end I ink blended the sides of the card with brown ink.                      * 4. Aan het eind heb ik de zijkanten van de kaart met inkt gemengd met bruine inkt

On top of a banner from the "Banner Trio" die set I stamped out the sentiment.                      * Bovenop een banner van de "Banner Trio" snijmalset stempelde ik de boodschap uit.

The slimline stencil also includes a removable masking pieces that can be separated so you can use the negative parts as a masks too.                      * Het slimline sjabloon bevat ook verwijderbare 'masks' die apart kunnen worden gehouden, dit zorgt ervoor dat de negatieve delen ook als sjabloon kan worden gebruiken.

1. The stencils also includes the negatives. When you place your stencil on top of a card (here a square) you can find the middle by using the guide lines on the stencil.                      * 1. De stencils bevatten ook de negatieven. Wanneer je je sjabloon op een kaart legt (hier een vierkant) kun je het midden vinden door de hulplijnen op het sjabloon te gebruiken.
2. Spray a bit of liquid glue (for example the Removable Pixie Spray from ThermOWeb/Icraft), on top of the negative/heart shape. Next you place the heart in the opening from the stencil that is already on your paper. This ensures your heart is place perfectly in the middle. Of course you remove the outer piece of the stencil.                      * Spuit een beetje vloeibare lijm (bijvoorbeeld de Removable Pixie Spray van ThermOWeb / Icraft) bovenop het negatief / de hartvorm. Vervolgens plaats je het hart in de opening van het sjabloon dat al op je papier ligt. Dit zorgt ervoor dat je hart perfect in het midden zit. Natuurlijk verwijder je het buitenste stuk van het sjabloon.
3. Insted of coloring in the heart shapes, you now color the outside. The heart works perfectly as masking tape with the liquid glue. If you’re done you can remove the heart shape and wash the glue off with some soap and hot water.                      * 3. In plaats van de kleur in de hartvormen in te kleuren, kleur je nu de buitenkant. Het hart werkt perfect als met de vloeibare lijm. Als je klaar bent, kun je de hartvorm verwijderen en de lijm eraf wassen met wat zeep en warm water.
